VDI-in-a-box next gen – Project Bermuda Tech Preview
Citrix is have released a new tech preview of Citrix VDI-in-a-box. The project is called Project Bermuda. Lets drill down in the beauti.
About Project Bermuda Tech Preview
Project Bermuda delivers a simple, complete VDI solution with personalized and pooled desktops. It runs on latest Windows operating systems, supports latest hypervisors, and integrates with your existing Citrix environment. Project Bermuda extends Citrix VDI-in-a-Box with several features:
- Support for the latest hypervisor versions. VDI-in-a-Box now supports Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V, XenServer 6.1, and vSphere 5.1.
- StoreFront support. StoreFront users can access their VDI-in-a-Box desktops through StoreFront.
- Microsoft Lync support. The Citrix HDX RealTime Optimization Pack for Microsoft Lync offers clear, crisp, high-definition video calls in conjunction with Microsoft Lync. Users can seamlessly participate in audio-video or audio-only calls to and from other HDX RealTime users and other standards-based video desktop and conference room systems.
(in other words the Optimization Pack 1.1 that also is released to XenDesktop ;o) ) - Easy export of published images for use with XenDesktop and other purposes on the hypervisor.
- Licensing management through a Citrix license server. If you are already using Citrix Licensing, you now have the option to also manage VDI-in-Box licensing through your central license server.
- A third datastore can be configured. This allows separate storage of personal vDisks (the personalized data and applications used for personal desktops), enabling you to use faster storage for this to optimize performance.
- Support for Windows Server 2012 images as virtual desktops using RDP connection only.
- Touchless desktop agent upgrade. After upgrading VDI-in-a-Box, you can update the desktop agents on your existing images with a single click.
- Optimization Pack for Google Earth (Vup Vup… )
Soon we will see more exciting technologies to be a part of VDI-in-a-box, as Excaliber will be released well if you can calculate 1+1 then you might figure it out 😉
