XenApp 6 – Setting the default Citrix Administrator failed

When you are creating a farm, you might experience issues during the last stage of the configuration setup. The setup fails and the following error message is displayed:

“Setting the default Citrix Administrator failed Error code: – 2147483626”

Consider the following scenario:

A server has been removed from a farm and the server is restarted. After restarting the server, you recreate a new farm.

In this scenario, there are 3 locations in the registry where the values of the registry entries are not changed after the server has been removed from the farm. Therefore, during the process of creating a farm, it causes a conflict when the computer tries to set the values in the registry.

If you navigate to the registry locations, you notice the old values of the farm.

Caution! This fix requires you to edit the registry. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Citrix cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Be sure to back up the registry before you edit it.

To resolve the preceding issue, complete the following procedure:

  • Navigate to the following locations in the registry:
  • HKLM>Software>Wow6432Node>Citrix>IMA>DefaultCitrixAdminDomain
  • HKLM>Software>Wow6432Node>Citrix>IMA> DefaultCitrixAdmin
  • HKLM>Software>Wow6432Node>Citrix>IMA> Neigborhood
  • Delete the values of the preceding registry entries.
The farm is recreated without any issues.
